Some say that money is the root of all evil, but I believe that money itself is not evil, but power is.
Power is the driving force of all that is horrible in this world. Political backlashes, war, and crime are all committed by those seeking power over others. Almost every single piece of human suffering throughout our know history is because someone woke up one morning and decided that they were more important than others, and that they deserved power over them.
Peace is impossible because there will always be someone willing to start a war and sacrifice countless lives in their pursuit of absolute power. It doesn't matter what laws are made or what policies are established, there will always be greed and this evil accomplished through selfishness cannot be stopped or avoided.
Did "God" create man to desire power or this is a man made desire?
ReplyDeleteWell, that's a question that I could not answer if I wanted to. I have no idea whether God exists or not, and definitely have no idea of his intentions for the human race.
ReplyDeleteIf power could never be harnessed for good we'd not have any mass produced vaccinations, charity funds, or anything that ever uses power for good. If power in anyones hands was always evil then wouldn't that mean that any definition of "God" would therefore be an evil entity? And any nation "striving for peace" is really just striving for more control over their fellow man?

ReplyDeleteAnyways, the desire for power is not always evil. I did not say that. People gaining power does create suffering in this world, yes, but some power must be had. There must be some form of government, unfortunately, and that requires power.
It's the excessive desire for power that really starts the wars and the genocides.
I say, that it is not necessarily power or money, but greed that is the root of all evil.

Power does not drive evil; even when looking at political figures, they can do great things and make changes in nations. It is when people become corrupted by greed and begin to seek more and more that it becomes destructive.
Well greed usually derives from the desire for money, which gives you things. When someone is greedy, they want things, and that's all they want.
ReplyDeleteThe more important part of money is that it offers power over those without. People with money run the corporations, they run our government, they can control us. And that is what creates evil.
